Indianapolis Cultural Trail - Trail Talk

The Trail with a Trailer

A Hollywood-sized Thank You to Ball State University's Institute for Digital Entertainment & Education and The Center for Media Design, which created a creative and entertaining video about the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. There is an 8-minute version and two 1-minute versions of the video available on DVD, and one of the shorter versions is also available for viewing on the Cultural Trail web site. Check it out!

Visible Recognition for an Early Trail Visionary

Visible Recognition for an Early Trail Visionary

A sign is now posted on the Cultural Trail, at the corner of Alabama and Vermont streets, saying "Poet’s Place," in honor of Jim Shackelford. Jim was with the Indianapolis Department of Public Works for many years and made it his mission to help the dream of the Cultural Trail become a reality. After all, what good is the idea of an urban pedestrian and biking path if there’s no place to put it? That’s what the City of Indianapolis made possible, and Jim Shackelford is the man who helped make it happen. Brian Payne took to referring to Jim as “the poet of the Cultural Trail” because of the way Jim could wax eloquently on what the Trail would mean to the city. For this reason, the corner on which the sign stands is called Poet’s Place. When you walk, roll or bike through Poet’s Place, please join us in saying a heartfelt “thank you” to Jim Shackelford.

Think Green! Support the Cultural Trail

‘Tis the season for giving! Making a charitable contribution to support the Indianapolis Cultural Trail is a great way to support this unique project, honor a friend or loved one for the holidays, and receive a tax deduction on your 2007 tax return when you make a gift by December 31.

To date, we have raised nearly $40 million of our $50.35 million budget and more than half of this has come from generous private donations from individuals, foundations and businesses. Help us thank the donors who are playing a major role in making this project possible.

You may make your checks payable to Indianapolis Cultural Trail and mail your contributions to:
Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick
Union Station
