National Publicity Keeps Rolling In
The Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick continues to deliver on its promise to enhance the city's reputation nationally and globally as a bicycle and pedestrian friendly place that values outdoor fitness, arts and culture and "green" alternatives to urban living.
This week, the Cultural Trail is featured in the Chronicle of Philanthropy, a national publication self titled "the newspaper of the nonprofit world." "On a Fund-Raising Roll" features Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) President Brian Payne in the "Day in the Life" article about a philanthropy executive and how he uses Segways to raise funding for the Cultural Trail.
The Cultural Trail has also received press this year from Metropolis magazine and Northwest Airlines' WorldTraveler magazine. In addition, a Washington Post article was reprinted in the Denver Post and Miami Herald.

"The Cultural Trail is a dream-come-true for avid cyclists like me. It's going to connect the city and make it more pedestrian friendly, which I think is fabulous. I learned a lot on the tour and it was great to see the city in a light I hadn't experienced before."
Cultural Trail Receives Health by Design Award
Health by Design, an Indianapolis coalition created to build on the "active living by design" movement, recognized CICF and the City of Indianapolis with an award for its work and public private partnership on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick.
The award honored local projects that achieved Health by Design's priority goals to:
-- Increase neighborhood, city and regional connectivity
-- Increase walking, biking and other public transit options
-- Encourage land use decision making that promotes public health
-- Reduce dependency on automobiles
The award was presented at Health by Design's second annual conference, "Balanced Transportation for Healthier Communities," on Sept. 8. Other award recipients included IndyGo for its Commuter Express service between downtown Indianapolis, Carmel and Fishers, and Laurence Brown, for his early inspiration and involvement leading the Health by Design efforts.

Where's Ann?
Our first permanent public art installation, “Ann Dancing” by Julian Opie is “taking five” for a little “repair and renovation.” One of four sides of the LED display was not working properly and needed to be repaired at Atlas Signs of Indianapolis.
We hope she’ll be back soon, ready to rock out in the Mass Ave Cultural District on the corner of Vermont St., Alabama St., and Mass Ave.
Learn more about the new, permanent public art that will be along the Cultural Trail on our Web site: http://www.indyculturaltrail.org/publicart.html
