And the Award goes to…

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail received many accolades in 2007:

Michael A. Carroll Award recipient – Brian Payne
“Perseverance in his mission to create a lasting link between neighborhoods and give the city a permanent source of pride has earned the Central Indiana Community Foundation chief the 2007 Michael A. Carroll Award,” stated the Indianapolis Business Journal in its Nov. 5, 2007 Corporate Citizenship supplement. The award is given annually to a man or woman who embodies the former deputy mayor’s determination, devotion, humility and community.

Arts Council of Indianapolis ARTI Award for ARTFUL Impact
At its annual Start with Art luncheon, Sept. 6, the Arts Council of Indianapolis presented the Cultural Trail with the ARTFUL Impact Award for significant contributions to the arts community over the past 12 months. The annual ARTI Awards presentation celebrated the enormous contributions of time, talent and resources that businesses and patrons make to the arts.

Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Hoosier Chapter Pinnacle Awards
The Indianapolis Cultural Trail and Borshoff received a Pinnacle Award for the Cultural Trail launch event and an Award of Honor for the Cultural Trail Web site at the Dec. 12, 2007, awards luncheon. Awards are given, based on merit, to strategic programs and to tactical projects that demonstrate the highest standards of public relations excellence.

Trail Testimonials

Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what others think about the Cultural Trail and how it will impact our community.

“When I first heard about the Cultural Trail I didn't think it was that big of a deal. But after seeing Brian Payne present, I see it in an entirely new light.

I grew up in suburban Chicago where I could ride my bike on side streets and sidewalks for miles. I could travel from town to town and never risk my life. Now I live in an Indianapolis subdivision with my wife and 4 kids. There is no way I'd ever let my kids ride outside our subdivision. The narrow 2 lane country roads are dangerous for cars, let alone bikes. And while we love our home and our neighborhood, we do feel isolated. After hearing Brian present, and catching the spirit, I can envision the trail causing neighborhoods around it to come alive with family life, retail and cultural events. Perhaps the community we've been longing for can be found downtown, rather than in the suburbs? We're thinking of moving into the city to be near the trail when it's done. But don't tell anyone our secret. In addition to finding community, we're also hoping to find real estate that will appreciate!! Can't wait to see the trail come to life!”     -- Pat Coyle
